Great write up about the infamous Liberty Kids traffic stop in New Orleans.

R3volution: Liberty First!
What are rights? If you have to ask permission from someone, it's not a right. If only some people are given a pass on an issue, it's not a right. A right accrues to you as a person, and must be exercised wherever you are, regardless of what others might think or do.
In the United States, our natural rights to life, liberty and property are proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence, and they are protected in the Constitution. But the Constitution does not "give" us our rights. Rather it forbids the federal government from violating them. Specific rights are described in the Bill of Rights–the first ten amendments to the Constitution–but the 9th and 10th amendments make it clear that our rights are unenumerable, whereas the privileges we grant the federal government are enumerated and circumscribed. And since the Constitutions of all of the several states also pledge to protect the natural rights of every citizen, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights apply in every state.
Every government functionary, from every branch of federal government, state government, and the military, swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. These people have no obligation or loyalty to any politician, any other government official or any other person. Their sole obligation is to the Constitution of the United States, and their function is always to defer to and protect the rights of the citizens of the United States for whom they work. This means that every senator, representative, military person, sheriff, lawyer or police officer is obligated to uphold every provision of the United States Constitution. This is one of the ways in which that document serves to protect our rights. (Please check out Oathkeepers and No Sheriff Left Behind to see how the military and our peace officers can do their office and protect our rights).
But we only have the rights we assert are ours. If we allow the violation of our rights, if we ask permission to exercise our rights, we have abdicated them. Our rights travel with us wherever we go. As Michael Badnarik says in "It's Good to be King!", our rights exist wherever our feet land. Therefore, if we are to reverse the terrible violation of our rights in the growing police state in the United States, it is important to exercise our rights, even when it is inconvenient to do so. We must do so politely and firmly, without iniation of force against anyone (which is a violation of the rights of others), but we must do it.
The other day the Liberty Kids, traveling in New Orleans as part of the Southern Tour of Operation Defuse (in conjunction with the Liberty Restoration Project and Texans for Responsible Government), encountered a potential violation of their rights when their car was pulled over on suspicion of a traffic violation. The officer asked for the ID's of everyone in the car, including passengers. Only the driver, since he has signed a contract by obtaining a driver's license and is driving on public roads, is required to show his license. All others are not required except when the officer can cite a probable cause that each has personally violated the law. (There is no collective responsibility for any crime in the United States. That would be a violation of individual rights).
One of the Liberty Kids, Catherine 'Conintelpro' Bleish, refused to give over her ID thus asserting her rights. She politely requested to be informed of what crime the officer was accusing her of, and she also informed the officer that the whole encounter was being streamed live on the web through three different computers in the car. The whole episode may be viewed at Qik, here.
In watching–or more accurately listening, it was dark–two aspects of the encounter were especially interesting. The first was that the officer was uninformed about the Constitutional rights of the passengers in the car. He called for extreme back-up–6 squad cars–and tried to tell Catherine that it was not necessary for her to stream the encounter. She replied that on the contrary, it was "very necesssary" and continued to stream. This alerted the grassroots of the R3volution movement. The second was that it became somewhat of a standoff when Catherine requested that the officer show her the law. Because between the live streaming and Twitter, the R3volution grassroots who were monitering Qik and Twitter, quickly pulled up the relevant Louisiana Statute and case law and the Liberty Kids had all the information before the police did.
The Liberty kids also cited the Fourth Amendment:

Movement In Favor of Neo-Con Lamar Smith's Endorsement for His Re-election Campaign
Dr. Ron Paul, who has been elected to office 10 times in the 14th District of Texas for his ardent defense of individual liberty and Austrian economics, opposition to the Federal Reserve, his opposition to the rising control of Neocons and their support for the Iraq war, and his opposition to a foreign policy of interventionism (namely his opposition to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq), has come out in support of Lamar Smith, a conservative Republican congresscritter in the 21st District.
Here's a YouTube of anarcho-capitalist John Bush at the C4L Regional Conference in Atlanta, Georgia last night, asking why Ron is supporting a Neo-Con:
Katie Wilhite Brewer's quote from Ron Paul's answer to Bush is of the following:
I'm a republican, I made a commitment to support the Republican incumbents in texas. I'm the most independent republican in the GOP but you can only get away with so much independence.
She then replied to that quote with the following:
Wow! There you have it folks. YouTube video will be out soon.
Smith, a Neo-Con who has voted for a resolution calling for the "Use of Military of Force" against Iraq on October 10, 2002 and voted for the bailout for the banks last fall, has a deal with Paul, saying that he will endorse and support Ron's campaign for re-election if Paul returns the favor. The idea is that Ron needs Smith's support, because if he doesn't, then he will lose his seat to a progressive Democratic challenger in the U.S. congressional race. Another reason is that, if Paul doesn't do it, then he will be forced out of the GOP, thus losing his seat on the Finances Services and his seat as a Ranking Member of the Domestic Policy Sub Committee.
A Ron Paul sycophant by the name of Brandon Trent (who sounds more like a GOP loyalist and stalwart in his responses to the irate pro-Liberty activists who were disheartened and disappointed by Ron's statement quoted Katie's Facebook page) tries to justify and rationalizes Paul's decision with the following quote in the comments section of the thread:
Brandon Trent
here's the thing; think rationally for a moment; how much good could Ron Paul do if he is expelled from the party; he would lose his status as a senior member of the Financial Services Committee; including his position as Ranking member of the Domestic Policy Sub Committee…..I'd rather have him in the Republican Party with some clout than out of the Republican Party with absolutely no clout what so ever. Politics is a dirty game; and Im sure Lamar Alexander will in some way return the favor

Merry Christmas my fellow patriots. I have great news to report. Keep the prayers, thoughts, and vibes a comin!
From Dan Gonzalez, VP of CC2009.
“AWESOME NEWS….Michael Badnarik is awake and spunky. He asked
Lynne what happened to him and how long has he been out? Lynne
said it was Christmas and he asked what year.
He is very weak of course but he is improving very rapidly!
Thank you Lord for bringing Michael back to us.”

On the first night, Schaeffer Cox of Alaska called for the formation of a caucus within the larger group. The “People’s Action Caucus” would focus on the civic actions that the Congress would recommend to the people. Its mission statement was “Arming the People with recommendations for local action that are not contingent upon government cooperation so they can exercise their inherent right to be free.” The group tackled the issues of the following day: 2nd Amendment and the Money Clause. Cox split the group into two units and I quickly volunteered to work on the money sub-committee. I was chosen as the chair for the night. With the help of Jeanne Golrick (MA), J.D. Shultis (SD), Rick Humboldt (NH), and a few others, we were able to come out with a short, clear statement to offer the people a nudge in the right direction to escape from unwarranted monetary control over their lives. We wrote the statement short and without too much specificity, because it would have to be up to activists in the localities to do the real work. The next morning, our money civic action was quickly passed on the floor. I believe it set the tone for much of the work of the rest of the days because it became clear that small groups could focus on issues and turn out effective resolutions that might have otherwise used up several hours on the floor. Sub-committees were soon created to tackle each of the issues.
They gave us a cheap box lunch on the last Friday. Seated are 5 members of THARs – Total Hard Ass Radicals aka Liberty Kids.
Schaeffer Cox, John Bush (TX), and Catherine Bleish (MO) were youngsters in their twenties who were all extremely gifted and highly charismatic. They and I, along with Kevin Patrick (WV), Ryan McCain (LA), and a few others, soon formed our own little social group, the “Liberty Kids”. It was very interesting to see that factions formed, even in a body with so short a life-span and so focused in purpose. The Founding Fathers warned about factions, or parties, but we had quickly developed them. Most of our differences were not based on ideology, though. It was more a case of target audience saleability. The older, more traditional conservative delegates simply had different constituencies.
